so this is my piece and it looks kind of flat, so i was thinking i should add some darker purple highlights. other than that, any other suggestions?

It's hard to tell what it is. Can you add some descriptions and maybe larger image link?
ReplyDeleteWhere are you putting the dark purple highlights? The flower in general looks like it needs more definition to distinguish the layers of petals.
ReplyDeleteYou could always ink in details with a fine black pen or black oil pastel. It might need some petal separation. Or you could outline/detail the flower in a dark purple paint using a fine line brush.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Mrs. Campbell, I like the idea of dark purple fine lines outlining the flower petals! I think that would be the perfect touch to drawing the viewer's eye to all your hard work! :)
