Sorry in advance for the funky-looking pic; it's obviously not as grainy-looking in person... (I hope I'm uploading this thing right. o_o ) But this is my current at-home project; I'm considering a concentration of my favorite paintings turned into pieces with a surreal/fantasy twist. This one is based on da Vinci's Annunciation (as depicted above). With this one, I simply wanted to get people to question what the heck is going on - namely the reason as to why Lucifer/Satan has appeared to Mary in an "angelic" form. I threw in a bit of symbolism... and if anyone actually understands the symbolism, I'd be quite surprised. Lol. I'm trying to put the most detail in the figures and leave the background more simplistic, but with pencil, it's a bit difficult (at least for me) to differentiate values. PS - Mary looks so... wrong in my piece. Fail. I couldn't get her face right. :|
I like the eyes in the trees in the background.
ReplyDeletethe left person looks like a buddhist statue, but i guess it's not, because i think the overall drawing looks as a devil trying and the thingy on the left side are betting for something (or talking)
ReplyDeleteTHIS IS NOT FAIL. You take that back.
ReplyDeleteYour wings and shading are GORGEOUS. (DOES WANT). I don't really have a whole lot to say...except maybe that I'm confused about her fingers. Are they...up? It's probably just the picture you took, but I cannot tell. :/
This is stupid good. I guess my only advice would be to work a little more on the right side of the drawing, it looks like a floating head. The white space is a little distracting... but other than that, very bueno!
ReplyDeletei am in love with this. the idea of appropriation concentration is really cool. waaaay better than anything i may have come up with. the goat pagan person is charismatic, but i agree with jake about the white space. i assume youre not done ha.....i hope not now that i said something
ReplyDeletethis is pretty much amazing!!! i'm assuming that you are not done considering the right side. i love it though. i am in love with your concentration idea. i wish i had thought of it first! keep posting pictures of this. i would love to see how it progresses.
